Filmmakers and their families and friends celebrated this year’s harvest of regional films at the 11th Mindanao Film Festival Awards Night held at the Cinematheque Davao last December 14, 2015.

• Best Production Design: Buggy Ampalayo (Pakot)
• Best Editing: Bagane Fiola (Kaon Durian)
• Best Cinematography: Arnel Barbarona (Singgit sa Hilom na Tubig)
• Best Screenplay: Keisha Halili (Pagsalig)
• Best Student Film: Puloy
• Best Documentary: The Little Me
• Best Production Value (for Guerrilla Filmmaking Workshop Films): Pagsalig

From December 9 to 15, Mindanao filmmakers have showcased their works at the Cinema 6 of Gaisano Mall of Davap. The number of films (37) is smaller this year because a stricter screening process was put into effect.

18 Eagle trophies were given to outstanding filmmakers.

Filmmakers and their families and friends celebrated this year’s harvest of regional films at the 11th Mindanao Film Festival Awards Night...

From 30 participants last year, to 50 this year for the 9th leg of the Mindanao Film Festival. From petty student amateurs to Guerilla filmmakers, from music videos to full-feature length films, the filmmaking scene in Davao is creating a huge buzz and slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with. The best films from schools and independent filmmakers all around Mindanao will be showcased in the big-screen and we would like to invite you to show your support, not only for your schoolmates' entry, but also for the filmmaking scene here in Mindanao.

The screening dates will be on December 4 to 10 at Gaisano Mall of Davao Cinema 5.

Updates regarding the starting time of the event as well as the block screening schedules will be posted soon.

Here are some trailers of the entries from last year's film festival, and expect to see a lot more this year!

Davao Museum of History and Ethnography will be screening Sean Ellis' "METRO MANILA" at the SM Lanang Premier for one night only on November 15, 2013 at 5:30pm to raise funds for the Museum. Tickets are sold at P300.00. Please contact the Museum at (082) 233-1734 to purchase tickets.

SYNOPSIS:

Seeking a better life, Oscar Ramirez and his family decide to move from the poverty stricken rice fields of the Northern Philippine mountain ranges, and journey towards the capital mega city of Metro Manila. Upon arriving in the big city, Oscar and his family fall foul to various city inhabitants whose manipulative ways are a daily part of city survival.

Oscar manages to land a job as a driver for an armored truck company and is befriended by Ong, his senior officer. Before long, it becomes apparent that Ong, has been planning the arrival of someone just like Oscar for sometime.

Sulaysulay in cooperation with Cinematheque Davao and Davao Filmmakers Community will be holding a festival called Davao Ngilngig Filmfest.

The first horror film festival in Davao is a collection of Davao's finest horror films. The 3-day screening will be held at the Cinematheque Davao, the new theatre of Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) in Davao city.

Eight promising directors from Davao will be screening the 3hrs and 48mins total running time collection of horror short films on Oct 4-6. These films include “Bantay” and “Bakak” by Ronald Gary Bautista, “Anino” and “Life with a Knife” by Arbi Barbarona, “Bedtime” by Jeylouks Dawn Calope, “Alyssa’s Typing” by Miguel Santos, “Penumbra” and “Pulaw” by Rochelle Paula Carino, “Overtime” and “Gugma ni Pilo” by Albert Egot, “Ngilngig Stories” by Bagane Fiola, and “Goodnight” by Leo Jeorge Bautista.
