The LIEU team took some time to visit Hollywood Burgers at The Peak, Gaisano Mall last Thursday and got the chance to sit down and chat with the man behind Hollywood Burgers, Sid Highsmith. From his humble beginnings, to ups and downs, and to where Hollywood Burgers is right now, Sid did not hold anything back.

It was a hot, scaly day and the team was famished. Sid offered to grill up some of his best-selling burgers from the team. While waiting, the team took the opportunity to scout the establishment and the different antiquities inside. The chairs, tables, and large, printed posters of household icons such as Marilyn Monroe gave that Hollywood Factor to a once bleep loft. When the kitchen door was opened we could already smell the captivating aroma of what was coming. Sid laid down four of his signature burgers for the team: the “Kevin Bacon Mush”, “Hawaii’s Burger”, “Hollywood Monster Burger”, and one of its bestsellers, the “She is Crazy Burger” – aptly named for its overloading cheesy flavor, a play on words that is also apparent in the other menu items. 

The team took turns to taste the different burgers that were laid out. Each and every bite was an explosion of pure tender goodness in our mouths. Sid also fixed up Hollywood Burgers’ signature Vanilla Milkshake. Its distinct thick, creamy texture sets it apart from your ordinary milkshake. The place is reminiscent of a modern take to an old school American Diner greatly inspired by the glamour of Hollywood.

The average Filipino customer can be put off by the notion that the food they serve is expensive and that it is too American for the Filipino tongue but this is very far-fetched. The truth is the prices are very affordable for even the average student. With the price of a burger ranging from  ₱99.00 to ₱225.00, Hollywood is not too far off from here after all.
